Dear Senator Murkowski,
I am writing to you today in regards to my support of the Coast Guard Authorization Act of 2022 (H.R.6865). I see that this particular bill has been passed by the House on March 29, 2022, and will now progress to try and be passed in the Senate. It is greatly important for the Coast Guard Authorization Act to pass to further support our armed forces.
Especially in a troubling time like now, it is crucial to support the American Coast Guard to further supply them with the resources necessary to carry out their duties. Because the Coast Guard oversees keeping maritime commerce flowing, being able to supply them with more technologically advanced cutters and infrastructure will help the process run even more smoothly. They also have duties that entail national defense such as port security and commercial vessel safety. With the crisis in Ukraine, what better time to ensure the Coast Guard readily access to materials than now? Not only will they be well equipped for international threats, but they will be able to know Americans support them.
It is of utmost importance to honor those that serve our country. I grew up in a family that emphasized the value of giving back to our soldiers. Passing this bill will do just that. The Coast Guard fights to protect our nation each and every day. Providing them with training and other various resources will allow them to carry out their missions in a much more effective and efficient way.
Without the Coast Guard, American ports, commerce, and maritime activity would be at risk. Along with this, these individuals protect and defend the American border to ensure the safety of American citizens. Therefore, I have concluded to strongly support this bill and everything it stands for because, without it, America could be in grave danger.
I urge you to vote in support of the Coast Guard Authorization Act of 2022 (H.R.6865) as it makes its way to the Senate for debate on passing. Please respond to my letter and inform me of your decision on this crucial bill. Thank you so much for your time.
Warmest Regards,
Libbey J. Gionet

I chose this interest group because their goal is to elect Veterans to the office and support those who are in uniform. Since this bill deals with supporting the US Navy, I thought it would be appropriate to select this group.

Good advocacy topic! Military concerns are always relevant and very timely. Your choices of recipients is also very good. Urging the funding of the Coast Guard is very much an issue in my home town which sits just a couple miles from Grand Haven, MI which is dubbed Coast Guard City USA and has an annual festival that attracts thousands.
